Pembroke Welsh Corgi
The history and purpose of the breed
Originally bred as an all-around farmhand, the Pembroke Welsh Corgi was once a farmer’s right-hand pup in the Welsh countryside. These energetic little dogs herded cattle to shared pastures, kept a watchful eye over the herd, and made sure everyone was home in time for milking. Their duties didn’t stop there—they also excelled at rodent control, guarding other animals, and looking after the family. In short, if a job didn’t require legs longer than 12 inches, a Pembroke was more than happy to handle it.
